Crochet Rug

So now that I'm taking some much need time off from my babies (just for a short time), I have decided that I'm going to work on handmade items for my new house.  So the first project I decided to make is a crochet rug!

(pictures above show just started progress)

When I started planning this project and the color scheme, I had no idea how I wanted to make it... I knew that I liked the old fashioned braided rugs and I wanted something like that.

(pictures above show a quarter of the way through of progress)

I decided to crochet the rug.  I'm using double strands of thick Serenity Chunky Weight crochet yarn.  I knew I wanted this rug to be thick and heavy, so I went with a half a double crochet stitch...

(pictures above show half way point of progress)

As you can see, the issues I'm running into is as I'm working, the dogs are already laying on the rug.  And then as I'm laying it out to see how big it's getting, I can't keep the dogs off it.. I can already see, they can't wait for me to finish!  As they are going to enjoy my handiwork!!!

At this point it's getting really big.  And it's so soft. Joey and I spead it out on the floor and walked on it barefooted... It feels like heaven under our feet!

My rug is now about 5 ft long or so.  It's quite heavy as well. I wish Joann's would stop running out of yarn!! I would have been finished by now!!!

I now have developed a bubble at the center of my rug.  After a tough decision, I have decided to rip it out and start over!!! Well I want my rug to look good and not look whooper jawed!!! Lol  so, here we go again!
